Individual & Family Sessions
We will work with you individually to gain awareness, strategies and ultimately work towards your goals. Sometimes in order to do that we need to work with the family as a whole. Family and loved ones can be an important part in our journey and you are able to invite them to join us in this work.

Our Theoretical Approaches

ERP is a cognitive behavioural approach that gradually helps you face the thoughts, images, and situations that trigger anxiety. At the same time, you learn to reduce the usual responses or compulsions, which helps break the cycle and lower distress over time.

ACT is a behavioural therapy that helps you build flexibility in how you respond to difficult thoughts and emotions. It focuses on learning to make space for these experiences, while taking meaningful actions that are guided by what matters most to you.

CBIT is a behavioural treatment that helps you become more aware of your tics and the urges that come before them. It teaches skills, including competing responses, and looks at patterns in your environment to help reduce how often tics happen and how much they interfere.

ComB is an approach used to understand and treat body-focused repetitive behaviours like skin picking and hair pulling. It looks at the different factors that play a role, such as thoughts, feelings, physical sensations, habits, and environment, and uses this to guide practical, personalized strategies.

What can you expect during a regular session with us?

We will focus on getting to know each other and build trust. I will get an understanding of your symptoms and what supports you are looking for. This can take up to three sessions for us to develop a treatment plan.

We will be focusing on the principles of ERP, CBIT, or Com-B or take a multi-faceted approach. We will focus on education to ensure you have a better understanding of how you are impacted by your thoughts and actions.

When our work is done, we will take time to look back at your progress and all you have learned. This is a chance for us to reflect on the therapy and look forward to the future.

Booster sessions are an important part in our work. We will set up a prescheduled appointment to check in and reinforce the progress we made. Follow ups are helpful as things come up and having a touch point can be beneficial.
